You will find the apartment located just outside the main trek of Barcelona in the rather restful district alongside the peak of El Carmel. This is your chance to blend in and live like a local and really experience authentic Barcelonan life. The city and it’s energetic vibe is still close at hand, indeed one of the most popular city attractions, Park Guell, is located only a few minutes’ walk away to the south.
The park makes the perfect place to take a picnic and it’s free to look around. Originally developed to be the location for an expensive upmarket housing project, plans quickly amounted to nothing. Instead Antoni Gaudi came on board in the early 1900s and the area was turned into a garden of his creative artworks, follies and sculptures. Since Gaudi is most famous for his buildings it is rather ironic that the building here that he chose to live in was not designed by himself. Even more ironic is that it is now the home of a museum dedicated to the great architect. Fear not however, the interior is jam packed with his designs. He even dreamt up the furniture. Not so impressive is the rather steep entry fee to look around. However if you wish to visit the interior of his masterpiece the iconic La Sagrada Familia then you may wish to purchase a combined ticket to make a small saving on the two locations.
Hop aboard the metro at relatively close by El Coll or Penitents metro stations to explore the entirety of the city with ease. The famous Passeig de Gracia is the perfect place for a little high-end window shopping whilst the insanely manic La Rambla is a must see for all visitors to the city with its markets stall, human statues and other crazy street theatricals. Follow it east down to the port where you will find the Barcelona Aquarium as well as the fantastic sandy shoreline of Barceloneta Beach a short walk away to the north.
