The Enjoy Plaza Real 1 apartment can be found just a few minutes walk form Barceloneta Marina. It’s perfected located for exploring the city. The nearest metro station is Liceu. The district is the original old fishermen´s quarter of Barcelona where the old port reaches the beach. Here you will find the best fish restaurants in the city serving up fresh catches of the day. There’s also a lovely long sandy beach on which you will find sunbathers and joggers, windsurfers and cyclists all year round. In summer months beach bars (known locally as ‘chiringuitos’) open up and the area becomes extremely busy with both locals and visitors to the city. Barceloneta offers a refreshing solace from the heat and traffic of the city. This is a residential area with a very local feel about it characterised by a charming grid of narrow streets of terraced buildings.
The Take the metro north to Barcelona’s most famous building, the Sagrada Familia. Antonio Gaudi’s incredible giant temple of design excess has been under construction since 1882 and believe it or not they don’t expect to finish it for another 30-80 years. Even though the Sagrada Familia is far from finished, this amazing landmark is well worth a visit. Since this is a fully functioning church with daily services it is recommended to check opening times to avoid disappointment if you wish to explore the inside. You can also climb the towers. A lift and a very long walk will take you to the top and from there you have a truly magnificent view over Barcelona. The climb is not recommended for those with fear of heights or for people with claustrophobia! As for the uniquely designed building itself, there are those that love it and equally those that hate it!
If you are one of those people that love Gaudi then be sure to visit La Pedrera, a stunning organic sculpted apartment block. With over a million visitors calling by each year it is in the top ten most popular attractions in Barcelona. The nearest metro station is Diagonal.
