Until the late 19th century Gracia was an independent town and the local residents are exceptionally proud of their roots, often saying they come from Gracia and not Barcelona! Here you will find an eclectic host of trendy bars, exclusive boutiques and cosy cafes, and the area has the highest concentration of ethnic restaurants in the city. Plaza de Sol is the main centre of nightlife and just around the corner from your apartment, where all kinds of people convene to drink, dance and simply enjoy the Mediterranean lifestyle. This neighbourhood is also renowned for a festival in August, where locals compete (rather seriously!) for the best street decorations.
