Standing 67 metres in total and located at the site where the intrepid explorer returned to Spain after his first voyage to the Americas, you can actually enter inside. For just a few Euros you can travel up the column in an admittedly very small lift. From the observation platform at 60 metres you have an excellent view across La Ramblas and the marina and across to beautiful Baceloneta Beach.

La Ramblas is a stunning tree-line pedestrian walkway littered with market stalls selling all kinds of wares including many bird stalls. Crowded during the day and until late in the night it is certainly a place to visit more than once during your holiday. The building along the street have incredibly beautiful architecture to admire from street level but be sensible with your belongings whilst looking upwards as pick pocketing in this area is rife. A few sensible precautions are all that is needed to protect yourself.
